Survival is a bus stop; thriving is the destination. You will be given tools to move beyond merely existing so that you can live well after cancer. You no longer have to settle for a colourless new normal, a flourishing future awaits.

TACKLING HEALTH INEQUITY

According to World Health Organisation, “health inequities cost approximately 1.4% of GDP in the EU”. This means that it is imperative that underlying reasons for disparities in health outcomes are properly addressed. Inspired To Soar provides the solution by creating bespoke content suited to the needs of health bodies and medical professional organisations. Through various events and initiatives, audiences are inspired to act in order to create positive change.

THRIVING AFTER CANCER

No matter how long it has been since cancer the rogue disrupted your life, it is never too late to pause and reflect on how you really are. Beyond the mask of having it all together and being viewed as a “strong survivor”, are you living life to the full? If your answer is no for any area of your life, be reassured, it is okay to feel that way.

Good news: surviving cancer does not have to be where you muddle through. There is a lifetime of thriving and flourishing waiting for you to step out from the shadow of cancer. It would be the bravest and best decision of your life as you are supported to go after the life of your dreams. Your new normal might be different to what you envisioned but a vibrant future awaits once you choose to no longer settle.

The Inspired To Soar Mission

THRIVING AFTER CANCER

Cancer doesn’t discriminate.
According to Cancer Research UK, 1 in 2 people born after 1960 will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
The impact of diagnosis extends to every part off your life which is never the same again. You have been thrust into a new normal that you never bargained for.
As a strong woman, you have picked yourself up from the place of devastation doing your best to put the chaos behind you. However, deep down, you know that there is MORE, you yearn for a life that is more than merely surviving cancer.
It is okay and you are not alone.

You deserve to THRIVE

The Inspired To Soar message is that you don’t have to settle – surviving cancer is only a bus stop not the destination.
Everyone’s cancer journey is different – it is important to own yours.
There is more to life than merely existing from one day to the next.
You can pursue the life of your dreams.
A lifetime of dreaming fearlessly, embracing the gift of everyday and flourishing awaits. However, this is not a quick fix. It takes being intentional about choosing to live well daily.
Rip off the mask of being okay even though you are miserable on the inside.
Stop feeling guilty about wanting to pursue lofty dreams that you know you are capable of.
Life is so precious and everyday can be lived to the full no matter the duration.

Let’s show you how.

TACKLING HEALTH INEQUITY

The Covid-19 pandemic brought to the fore an issue that had been simmering under the surface for a long time – the health inequities impacting on people from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Whether it is to do with poorer patient experiences, outcomes or overall prognosis, it is time to turn the tide.
One of the major reasons why the issues have persisted is the gap in understanding what the underlying causes are. As a healthcare body or professional, I am sure that you agree that health inequalities put a bigger strain on every part of the healthcare system, the economy and on society as a whole.

Why should this matter to your organisation?

As providers of healthcare services, you have a big role to play in ensuring that Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) 3 and 10 become a reality. SDG 3 – good health and wellbeing for all; SDG 10 – reduce inequities within and among countries.
The need has never been as urgent as it is now.
Inspired To Soar offers bespoke solutions to equip your organisation with the tools to fill up the cracks and improve health outcomes for people from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Every human being deserves to receive excellent healthcare no matter their background or circumstances.
Inspired To Soar would help you to make that a reality.

WORKFORCE RESILIENCE

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed how global ways of living forever. Nowhere has this been in more evidence than in the workplace where there have been multiple changes as new strains of the virus has led to ongoing uncertainty.
The stress and anxiety of these times has had a significant impact on staff whose resilience has been compromised to a large degree. Indeed, the trauma faced by the workforce has been unprecedented in terms of the duration hence the need to prioritise wellbeing.
As a leader, you are not immune to the fallout of this time. It is therefore important for you to be equipped to properly contextualise your own trauma in order to promote tools to boost and sustain the resilience of your workforce.
Inspired To Soar’s unique framework was designed specifically to address this issue.

Navigating Your New Normal

Navigating Your New Normal is part memoir and part framework. It deals with the impact of breast cancer and loss on family members as well as offer a framework to help people find their way to fulfilment in the aftermath of trauma. Bamidele shares her perspectives as a teenage caregiver, loved one as well as being a breast cancer patient herself. The 7-step framework is a practical map for people to journey from survival to thriving in their new normal journey. The encouragement is that even though life after trauma is drastically different to that enjoyed previously, it does not have to be any less fulfilling.

HEIW Think Tank Video: Consent

It is important to ensure that ALL patients are given the opportunity to fully understand every part of diagnosis as well as treatments they consent to.

Testimonials

I’ve just watched all the videos and they are so great! I just wanted to say a big, big thank you to you all for working on them, and for letting the Think Tank be involved in making such a wonderful resource for learning. They are going to be so useful. Bami, you are an inspiration. And thank you for sharing your personal stories as well, I know that that must come with challenges.

Thanks again for including me.

Dr Rachel Lee

HEIW Trainee Think Tank

Going through these sessions in preparation for a bilateral mastectomy was a life-transforming experience. I was taken on a journey of self-awareness and self-discovery.  I have been challenged to confront and overcome my insecurities and have come out with a renewed confidence. I feel very ready now not only to undertake this body-changing experience, but also to face my other challenges head-on – thanks to the fresh perspectives I have gained from the sessions.

So grateful for the impact of the coaching.

Nigeria

I just wanted to send you an email to thank you once again for leading the HEIW leadership fellow masterclass on the subject of “Amplifying BAME Patients’ Voices: Raising Awareness of Inequities in Healthcare Provision” on the 7 December 2020.

The feedback I received following the masterclass was very positive indeed. It is so very important that our NHS leaders of the future understand the unique needs of all patient groups in particular patients from our BAME community. All our leadership fellows found the masterclass incredibly inspiring and thought provoking. A number of them approached me after the event expressing their gratitude for the wonderful session and have been moved to work more on the issues you have raised.

I very much look forward to working with you more in the future.
