Below are some examples of common ways my clients engage me, but I pride myself in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual or organisation

If you have a specific need or desired outcome in mind, the best course of action is to reach out for a discovery call. Together, we can explore how I can best support your journey towards equity and inclusion.

Everything starts with education

My work with academic institutions enables me to reach the future healthcare professionals. This is critical to enabling sustainable change to take place. We must address the root causes of inequity and that means addressing perceptions and prejudices.
When I work with future healthcare professionals, I can shape attitudes and perspectives from the ground up. That’s why I’m dedicated to raising students’ understanding of what inclusive healthcare truly looks like.

My clients gain the tools needed to help future healthcare professionals break the barriers that impede trust in clinical practice.

It’s about broadening the curriculum to showcase the diverse experiences of patients from ethnic minority backgrounds. Without an accurate understanding of the challenges faced by underrepresented communities, it’s impossible to break down the barriers that impede trust in clinical practice.

What I offer

  • Support designing and/or delivering seminars
  • Provision of materials and teaching aids
  • Talks and presentations
  • Training sessions for healthcare professionals and students
  • Assistance with designing and carrying out research projects to improve the outcomes of people from ethnic minority backgrounds in their healthcare experiences

In addition to creating awareness through education, I also create long-term resources that can serve as teaching aids. We need to make equitable healthcare the norm, and embedding diversity into the materials we use to educate our future healthcare workers is a step towards achieving this.

I also believe that, by expanding healthcare research and increasing the participation of those from underrepresented communities, we empower students to actively engage with the barriers these communities face.

By integrating this awareness into their education, we’re not just teaching future professionals how to provide care – we’re shaping a new generation of healthcare leaders who are committed to equity and inclusion in every aspect of their practice.

How to work with me

If you want to start making a real and tangible difference to equity and inclusion, let’s discuss how we can work together.

It’s important to remember that change requires confidence – and this is applicable to both sides. The professionals need to feel confident in dealing with people from minority ethnic backgrounds but without a deeper understanding of their challenges, they can’t feel this.

“I have been fortunate enough to work with Bami in Undergraduate and Postgraduate healthcare education for five years. Bami’s expertise, experience and teaching style engages students intellectually, socially and emotionally, her educational approach creates significant impact and improvements on health professional’s clinical practice. Bami acts as a bridge between theory and practice, and helps students to challenge assumptions, beliefs and attitudes. This is teaching and learning that sits at the very heart of a student-centred approach.”

Placing equity at the heart of our public services

Public sector organisations such as the police or criminal justice system are often expected to portray best practice ways of working. They are seen as an indicator of society’s standards. But, when it comes to equity, are their standards high enough?

My mission, to help everyone win through equity, is particularly important within large, long-standing institutions.

When I work with public sector clients, I aim to promote equity so that staff from minority ethnic backgrounds feel a sense of belonging, so that when the public deal with the organisation, they feel represented fairly, and so that we can start to drive out the institutional racism that has been found to exist for systemic reasons.

Taking a positive approach, I help clients to understand what an anti-racist culture looks like and ensure an informative experience by raising the awareness of the impact of racial trauma, and its impact on crime.

Ultimately, it is my desire to remove the barriers to recruitment, retention and progression that exist for minority staff. In turn, this will result in improved relations with ethnic minority communities as a result of greater trust and awareness.

What I offer

  • Awareness-raising workshops or seminars which highlight key themes of racism in the workplace
  • Use of real-life scenarios to address both racist and anti-racist behaviours and examine the difference
  • Training materials and associated workshops designed to break down barriers between public sector organisations and their diverse communities
  • Raising the profile, and addressing the impact, of racial trauma and how to build trust through open, respectful dialogue
  • Expertise on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) policy and strategy reform

How to work with me

If you want to work towards a diverse, cohesive workforce that embraces an antiracist culture, contact me to book an initial call.

The outcomes you can expect are tangible and include:

  • a diverse, cohesive workforce embracing antiracist culture.
  • better awareness of racism issues that are embedded in the organisation.
  • ethnic minority communities feel seen, heard and are open to dialogue and cooperation.
  • improved community relations and engagement.
  • improved access to services for ethnic minority communities.

“A big thank you for your inspirational work and your honesty.”

Achieving an inclusive corporate culture

My work with commercial organisations that employ 500 people and over is focused on antiracism training and helping to make EDI commitments a reality.

There is often much discussion about diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) but it is common to look behind the talking and find a lack of action. I seek to change this by helping my clients to make real changes using my support and practical tools.

Corporate culture change can feel insurmountable, but my belief is that even the tiny changes count. By helping people to listen differently and engage intentionally, I help organisations to build equity in a sustainable way.

What I offer

  • Awareness-raising workshops or seminars which highlight key themes of racism in the workplace
  • Real-life scenarios which address both racist and antiracist behaviours in order to facilitate discussion about the differences
  • Highlight why equality on its own is not enough and equity is what yields lasting change
  • Offer expertise on EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) policy and strategy reform.

Helping you to achieve your mission

I work with statutory and non-statutory health organisations, including charities, to help everyone to win through equity.

If you are involved in work that already supports communities or individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, you may still need support in understanding the challenges being faced. I bring my specialism of access to healthcare to the table and provide services which enhance your own offering.

What I offer

  • Raising awareness of chronic health conditions conditions in ethnic minority communities.
  • Producing and releasing culturally appropriate material that engages diverse communities.
  • Promoting services and initiatives that improve health outcomes ensuring that under-represented groups are catered for.
  • Building trust with diverse communities so that they engage better with health organisations.

As well as delivering seminars and workshops, I can consult with you on the effectiveness of your policies and other documentation to ensure they are inclusive and address the unique needs of ethnic minority communities.
As a result, you can be confident of building the right culture and ethos to serve your own clients and to equip your staff with the confidence that they can work effectively with diverse communities.
If this sounds like an area where you need support, or if you would just like to discuss your current situation, please get in touch to book a call.

Speaking as the voice of the voiceless

My speaking engagements bring a unique perspective that challenges your audience to listen differently. I share from my lived experiences and my extensive work with a range of organisations.
“Bami is an excellent speaker in terms of the lived experience.”

When I speak about healthcare inequity, I bring a unique perspective. I challenge audiences to listen differently.

The focus of my public speaking is to provide a broad understanding of the complexities that surround equity and inclusion. My personal insights combined with learned expertise allows me to be both empathetic and empowering, inspiring others to embrace new perspectives and take meaningful action.

I speak to large audiences or smaller teams within organisations, but in both cases I am told my message resonates deeply and I often find it sparks transformative conversations and drives positive change.

I love to take a storytelling approach to all my work but never more so than when I am speaking. I find sharing case studies and research really engages my audience and the experience of others can always be applied again as a practical way to improve the way we work.
